Field Notes

Description:

Large flowering plant, grew 2 ft. In a week. Flowers are yellow or white, long and cup-like. It grew here last year, apparently grew no fruit or vegetable, would like to know if it's a weed or not.

Habitat:

Central California, appears to favor partial shade and warm to hot climates.

It is a nice, fragrant plant to have around and the birds love it but it can grow into a small tree. I saw let it live if you have the space for it. Warning it is also slightly toxic so don't grow it if you have little kids or teething puppies around. I don't know what kind of Datura it is. Good luck.
Datura's can grow like weeds. Coming up in the same areas year after year. Personally I like them a lot. The flowers are very fragrant and they grow fast.
