Found in Vondelpark in Amsterdam. It seemed to be a quite territorial bird.

Interesting...Thought it looked really familiar to the moorhens (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6851604) we have here except white and according to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coot) a coot is a close relative and notes they are highly territorial during breeding.
It looks to me like a coot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coot). I didn't know they were in Europe too.
