Field Notes

Description:

Essentially nocturnal animal which hibernates in winter and rolls into a ball when disturbed.

Habitat:

Widespread, especially in woodland, scrub and gardens.

Notes:

This hedgehog was sleeping in a pile of leaves where I was working. Needless to say, that little patch of leaf litter didn't get cleaned up!
