Field Notes

Description:

Common quail with top knot and black mask. I was trying to get pictures of his mate in an elderberry tree, but she wouldn't let me get close enough

Habitat:

grass land and edge of forest

Notes:

I was moving closer and closer when my camera suddenly ran out of batteries. He stayed there while I changed them and ducked into the hedgerow, just as I was ready to try for a closer shot
