emma, the "gun powder" was pointing at the color !! gun powder grey, not spread spore-powder as a gun-amanite, I think , as clive suggested: genus lepiota is very possible. Spore-PRINT itself isn't that important, when you dont want to do something with the spores (microscope or cultivating). When you see, the color-direction (through- discoloration of the gills; or does the smaller mushroom-cap beneath has a white/brown powdery discoloration), then you have already one important part: the spore-COLOR. When you have no microscope or someone with one, then will you not have much from the spore-print, except of the color. good luck
@ Clive, this what Gave me the idea to ID it as gun powder Amanita.

i will try and gather more data in the future along with spore print etc. Thnx again.:)
Thanks Alex. i was really hoping to Tap on your expertise!! i am really happy you had time to glance at this.
The stalk was short. Do not remember the color of gills.the cap seemed to be a
healthy white, not slimy but not dried up either.
should not be the coprinopsis atramentarius.- common ink cap ! when the cap of an mushroom of the coprinus/coprinopsis/coprinellus fam is as much open than this one, then it has mostly the edge bent upwards and beginns to drip black fluid (spores)---> therefore the id isn't right (sorry to annoy). http://eol.org/pages/984054/overview . just from above i can not really make a suggestion, do you still remember any details of the spotting: big stalk/white gills/ring (annolus)/ slimy,dry,cap/ discolor ????
