This may be a member of the Ganoderma lucidum complex, (related to) a Lingzhi mushroom ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lingzhi_mushroom ).
Habitat:
A thin band of secondary coastal beach forest fronting the ocean. Growing on dead trees on forest floor.
