Hello Kristen! this is not the Pygmy nuthatch..This is the Hairy woodpecker :)
Note : The photos are different birds :) The first one is prob. a Hairy woodpecker and the second one is a Pygmy nuthatch.
Photo one and two are two different birds. The first photo shows a Hairy Woodpecker (Picoides villosus).
