Field Notes

Description:

1.5' (45cm) long. It was one of the largest chameleons I saw. I think it might be F. oustaleti but not sure.

Habitat:

rainforest but has adapted to dry habitats of the south as well

Notes:

I spotted this near a very small village of the edge of Manongotry forest in Andohahela national park.

Correct, though a few species do eat small amounts of vegetation.
So they are meat eaters, not vegetarians?
Most chameleons eat a variety of insects but larger ones will eat small birds and other lizards.
Wow! I wonder what a big Chameleon this size would eat? I have never seen one this large!
