I checked out the Short-horned Grasshopper. It's a bit different than the one I saw. Thanks for suggesting it though!
In grasshoppers seasonal change of colour observed worldwide.
I think its Short-horned Grasshopper. (Valanga nigricornis)
I did and that looks a lot like the one I found. Thanks so much Dangermouse!
Good luck with the searching - let us know when you find out who he is. :)
Take a look on the internet for pictures of the blue-winged grasshopper, see if that helps. If I hadn't seen one flying a few moments before it landed, I wouldn't have noticed it was around!
He was about an inch and a half in length, maybe a little smaller. He looked brown before I took the shot as well. I've bee looking through pictures on the web and haven't found it yet. Thanks :)
Nice pose you got..very unusual..!!
I'm not sure about the ID, depends on the size. I'm only going off one I saw the other day (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6902186) and I know in some light they look brown, like yours, and in others grey, like mine. If it's a tiny grasshopper, it could be a rufuous grasshopper. Great shot, though! Very warming.
