Field Notes

Description:

Has very long running stems, pretty yellow blossoms. Produces a small baseball sized gourd that is green stripped when unripe and bright yellow when ripe. They have a generally awful smell, giving them the nickname the stink gourd.

Habitat:

Often found in open pastures in central Texas. They are drought resistant and thrive in poor soils.
