Field Notes

Description:

I did not see the top of this butterfly's wings. Its body was dark with white markings. The underneath of the wings had orangish-red spots with light blue markings around the edges.

Habitat:

It was sitting toward the top of a rhododendron bush in the front yard of my house in an older suburban neighborhood with mature trees.
