Description:

Small crab about 3 inches (8cm). The males have a blue green to brown shell and have one large claw and one small claw.

Habitat:

Brackish marsh. They tend to make holes in the mud near the edge of the water where high tide comes in at.

Yes, They are funny!! As children we were fascinated with these crabs. I can never get a photo of them!! You did a great photo of these crabs!!
I took this pic at our fishing camp and there are literally hundreds of holes in the yard from these guys. Most of the time they pop back in there holes real quick but once and a while some will stay out and flex their big claw at you like they want to fight you. So funny! If you were able to get a good look at them at any point you may have also seen some females which tend to be more brown and have two small claws.
Good photo! I think it is this type of crab.
