3 feet tall leggy weed with purple-pinkball-shaped flowers about 1 inch in diameter

spotted in scrub land

Could it be this same plant or related: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6404130 ? The present spotting is in a fairly arid area while the previous is in a moister hammock area. And the growth habit is different (though the present one may simply be growing up through adjacent plants.)
