40.4173, -82.9071
Field Notes
Description:
Hairy-leaved plant with tall stems reaching well over 5 feet. Small yellow flowers clustered thickly on stems. Native to the Old World, but well-established in the new.
Habitat:
This plant found alongside an Ohio lake in disturbed ground. Likes well-drained soils on disturbed sites. Found around the world, but flowers best when it receives a winter dormancy period.
Notes:
Research indicates the plants should have only one flower stalk, but this appeared to have many. Possibly several plants clustered closely together. Seeds of plant are a piscicide (toxic to fish).
