Description:

Iridescent blue swallowtail butterfly with black body and small white dots along perimeter of wing.

Habitat:

Oak woodland in close proximity to human habitation.

Notes:

This butterfly was sitting on a leaf and I gently coaxed it into my hand for a clear picture.

The caterpillars of this species are red or black with tubules that make them look very alien :)
