Field Notes

Description:

This medium-sized heron has a yellowish bill with a dark tip. The legs and feet are greenish. Notice the white plume on the back of its head and the rust color on the lower neck indicating that this is breeding season. A second TriColored Heron was also at this pond - 3rd picture.

Habitat:

Subtropical swamps.
