Thimbleberries
Rubus parvifloras
44.5179, -124.071
Field Notes
Description:
sweet but fragile red berry that will fit your finger like a thimble. There's never quite enough of them to make a jam, but they are great to snack on. They don't keep.
Habitat:
coastal temperate rain forest of spruce, hemlock, Douglas fir; at the edge but still fairly shaded
Notes:
I'm not really sure how to categorize berries in terms of the flower mission; they are the end result of the flower & refer to the same plant and so aid identification.
