Field Notes

Habitat:

Forest ground, between trees and grass on a clearing

Notes:

Thanks to the ID help, I could narrow this orchid down to the 'Epipactis muelleri'. I am fairly sure it's the one pictured. Clay rich soil fits the area it was found in.

I think, I go for 'Epipactis muelleri' - the leaves and stem and distance between leaves etc. looks similar to mine above.
If anyone goes and gets those & gets caught, he's in trouble. Both were in nature preserves. Plus, this was 2 years ago,.... :)
Gotta look at it tomorrow - when my brain is working properly again :)
please don´t tell anyone where u found those! I´m always happy about wild orchids, if in europe happy square 2 ;)) as about crab spiders, and carpenter bees. I once found a lady slipper orchid in the Carpathian Mountains, near a road, and a guy was washing his car just near it :(
There are actually quite a few. I need to dig a bit deeper and find photos from a previous guided tour. We found one orchid there too. But the time for blossoms was already over :(
Not sure, Dan, the leaves in the Helleborine photo look more rounded, no?
I had that in mind too, but wasn't too sure of my memory :) That's at least a lead, thanks!
You're right monkey-mind. I believe it's this. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6843856
