Description:

This juvenile Yellow-crowned Night Heron has the black bill and yellow legs/feet of the adult. The white spotting and wispy plumes distinguish it from a juvenile Black crowned Night Heron. This heron was trying to take it easy by a small pond.

Habitat:

Southern swamps and coasts, feeding especially on crustaceans. Rests in trees or near marshes. This one happened to be next to a tree next to a pond.
