Description:
The leaves are alternate, ovate to lanceolate, often with a toothed or lobed margin. The flowers are large, conspicuous, trumpet-shaped, with five or more petals, ranging from white to pink, red, orange, purple or yellow, and from 4–18 cm broad.
Habitat:
Malaysia, Polynesia, China, Mexico, Cambodia etc.
I found it in the garden of GIC, Bandia, Khatima, Uttarakhand, India.
Notes:
1. On 28 July 1960, it was declared by the government of Malaysia that the hibiscus would be the national flower. It is called Bunga Raya in Malay.
2. The Hibiscus is used as an offering to goddess Kali and Lord Ganesha in Hindu worship.
