Field Notes

Description:

mealy/spermatic smell... growing under beech in deciduous woodland largest caps about 10-12cm across 5-7cm tall, bulbous base to stem with thick mycelium on stem butt. Cap surface felt almost rubbery to the touch. The gills snap when I run a finger across them. A few possibles: Clitocybe dealbata, Clitopilus prunulus, Clitocybe candida (there's a more obvious line between the gills and the stem as opposed to my spotting where the gills merge into the stem more seemlessly), Tricholoma leucocephalum, Lyophyllum connatum, Melanoleuca strictipes. The Miller was confirmed on ispot: http://www.ispotnature.org/your-ispot/filter/gallery?page=1#
