Attracted to strong night lights at a local used car yard. This one on a Mazda.

I can't resist these especially when they sit on metallic blue backgrounds. Found in the southern half of Australia, as well as Norfolk Island, New Zealand and Macquarie Island.
The larvae feed on Acacia species.

I thinks it's something about their scales. Flash really changes them. These ones in daytime are like dark chocolate-grey.
Wow, what a stunner. Is this a particularly light specimen or are all the old lady moths like this down south? I've only ever seen really dark ones up here.
The first pic and moth is gorgeous.
I have many times Jemma. Likewise she's pleased to be with someone who is so interested in learning about it. Some things in life work out well. :-)
you must say thanks to Leuba for introducing you to the animal world.
