Description:

“To the artist there is never anything ugly in nature" Rodin
We found this large larvae inside of a piece of rotted birch . The bark of the birch was intact and created a wonderful place for this relatively huge larvae to live and catch unsuspecting prey. We saw quite a few smaller specimens as well (from our water sample). We can conclude from this finding that the Little Betsie River is a pretty healthy system since these guys would be the first to die if pollutants are present.
