Field Notes

Description:

Jurinea mollis has a 'thistle-like' appearance but the finely lobed leaves are non-spiny, and it remains in a tight clump. The flower heads are purple (in various shades) and take on a beautiful silky appearance when the seeds are ripened. It's a very common Greek wildflower, and the pictured plant was spotted near Volos city, Greece.
