Field Notes

Description:

Star flower on thick oval shaped flowers. This is native to California.

Habitat:

Dry chaparral area with lake nearby at Daley Ranch. This is "native to much of the Americas, from Canada to Argentina, and can be found on other continents as an introduced species."

Notes:

Photo by one of my teen nature enthusiasts :) Plant is known as Seaside Heliotrope, Salt Heliotrope, Monkey Tail, Quail Plant and (misleadingly) "Chinese parsley".
