Field Notes

Notes:

Caught this neat pic of what I think is a species of cardinal in the midst of a mating dance. The bird on the left was dancing around flitting its wings for about 30 seconds and then flew off.

Welcome to Project Noah! Nice pair of photos to start off your time here.
I think it might be a juvenile male and its mom. The dance was probably "Feed me, I see you found food, feed it to me, puuuh-puuuh-please." And then it was, oh good, I got food, I eat food at the nest, I'm going to fly back to the nest with my food now.
Thanks for all the great comments! I really wish the photo was a bit more in-focus. I shot this through a long lens through some nearby bushes and you can see the birds are about about 5-6 inches outside of the depth-of-field. Otherwise it's like they were posing for me!
I agree with Ana. Juveniles maybe? Lovely catch!
