Field Notes

Description:

Males are dark blue or nearly black, with a dark face and dark stigmas.

Habitat:

native to eastern United States and southern Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick

Notes:

the color is very intense and just gorgeous. My students were convinced it was almost purple

I think it may be a Slaty Skimmer. They are dark blue, in certain light they look almost black.

I dont hink so - wrong shape of abdomen and this is so bue!
Isnt it Black Pondhawk (Erythemis attala)...?
