Very cool Dreamfalcon - tenacity has it!
I have the confirmation that this is a male Mandarin Duck in non-breeding plumage. The orange "spikes" will develop into part of the colorful breeding plumage.
However the blue wing has Mandarin
Looking at the Mandarin in my book - your photo has the wrong bill colouring - the female tufted seems the nearest ?
Thanks for the ID suggestion but it doesn't look anything like a Tufted Duck to me. But not too healthy, that's what I thought, too.
Dont like the colouring of this one - bring in the vet -?
