Field Notes

Description:

long, grass like leaves, umbel type inflorescence, growing in water

Habitat:

freshwater river

Notes:

I spotted this growing in the water at Dufferin Island, just upriver from the falls. I noticed walking across a bridge. I had to climb down through some bush and over some rock and then actually step in the water to get the close shots.

Thanks Aaron. Thankfully I didn't see a lot of this around.
i think that's flowering rush (Butomus umbellatus). It's considered an invasive plant and should be eradicated.
Thanks. I think a friend at work will be able to ID this.
That is going the 2nd mile. Thanks for the lovely pictures.
It was worth it :) It's a beautiful flower and looks so delicate!
