Scott, I'll have to revisit the site. These are next to a sapling structure. It is well mulched and kept watered so it doesn't dry out. Seems to be perfect conditions for fungi.

If these fungi are near a wall or tree trunk you should try and find the tiny "eggs", or peridioles, that get dislodged by raindrops and stick to the nearest surface. A mycologist that I ride the bus with pointed them out to me. They look like little drops of paint or tar.
