Description:

Glacier Lily growing on edge of melting snowdrift.

Habitat:

Edge of melting snowdrift.

Notes:

Shot a lot of photos of many of these plants in this area. It was in the western Cascade Mountains at about 5200 feet elevation. This is an abnormal year for around here.... snowpack was much greater than normal and snowmelt much slower.... normally, I could have reached this remote spot around July 4th, but not this year. And, actually it is not uncommon to see Glacier Lilies growing close to snowmelt.

Is this in the mountains? There is still melting snowdrifts on July 23? Strange to see it growing so close to snow.
