Description:

From the description in the wiki entry, I figure that this one has been a female:

The males are bright blue in colour with white spots and with characteristically long chelipeds, while the females have a duller green/brown, with a more rounded carapace. The carapace can be up to 20 cm in width.

Habitat:

beach

Notes:

Sadly, pretty but dead, maybe he happened to become bird Lunch?

The second photo is an archive shot from 2007.
But same country and same species.

Cool, Daniele! Well, it's not like wiki is a scientific holy grail :-D Glad I got your confirmation though that you've seen them too. I think in my archives from 2007 and last year might be more shots. Need to keep digging :) (Only altogether 87.00 photos, but I guess you can relate to that :))
Nicole, just read your comment about wiki's Gulf omission for the blue swimmers... I saw them there too: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6363228
That's him. Thanks, Peter! I would have never found this one :) (And I wonder why the Middle East / Arabian Gulf is not mentioned in the distribution list on wiki)
