Field Notes
Description:
Large cap approximately 4" across, thick stem about same length as stem diameter. Light brown cap and stem with black raised spots on top. Spore nearly black and fibrous with sponge like appearance. Large amount of liquid inside. Slimy on all surfaces,non-mushroom smell.
Habitat:
Deciduous and conifer old growth woods, growing on bank of small stream in moss patch. Central Ohio at Dundee Falls.
Notes:
Many types of other mushrooms in same area.
