Description:

Green, has an interesting twirl to its antennae.

Habitat:

Fen

Notes:

This one was dead upon discovery. From the looks of its abdomen, it may have been eaten by another insect. I'm assuming it's in the family Chrysopidae, the green lacewings, but I could be wrong. Found at Cedar Bog State Nature Preserve.

There weren't too many mosquitoes when I was there. There were some, sure, but I've dealt with much worse. Those were pretty much the only biting insects that I dealt with, I don't think I even saw any deerflies or horseflies. So that made it even more enjoyable.

Sounds like a great place. Are there lots of mosquitos, deerflies, horseflies, etc. too?

Yep, there sure are. I've already uploaded a picture of sundew from Cedar Bog, and I also have some pictures of bladderwort I need to upload. I think there might be pitcher plants there as well, but I didn't find any. It's a great place with a lot of interesting flora and fauna. There aren't many bog-like habitats left in Ohio, so it's like a different world when you're walking through it.

I like the curl of the anntenae. I see you uploading spotting from the Cedar Bog Preserve. Is there a lot of carnivorous plants there? I know they prefer that type of habitat.
