great shot. what sort of gear are you using? underwater housing?
Edited the ID, since we all agree now it is a green sea turtle ;)
Hey Eric , your photo is of a Green Turtle . Very nice photo !!!
Interesting discussion. Now makes me wonder whether my own spottings are correctly labeled as hawksbill as well. One was spotted in Balicasag Island in Bohol while the other one was in Batangas. Anybody please care to confirm or correct? Would appreciate it. Thanks. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6956645 http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6956645
What a great discussion. One of the reasons I love our community. Thanks for all the hard work in helping reclassifying this amazing organism. Tom, please free to update your spotting as you see fit :)
Amazing shots! But by the way I think it is a Green Turtle, anyhow it is a wonderful spotting since both are critically endangered.
Hmmm.. Both species are critically endangered...!!
You're welcome! It's ok sometimes it can be a little difficult. Still a beautiful spotting and turtle!
Thanks for the comments...Yet, interesting discussion if it is now a green or a hawksbill and I have to correct myself. It is a green seaturtle. What convinced me is the claws on each flipper. A hawksbill should have 2 on each, and we see here on picture 2 there is only one claw. Sorry for the mistake. Maybe you should correct this spotting, Peter.
If I understand you correctly, then yes.
Elime you say... with your view... please confirm what should Hawkbill should be... http://underwater.com.au/article/id/1029-an-endangered-vegetarian-the-green-turtle-chelonia-mydas-/
Yes, that is a Green. Here is a good photo of a Hawksbill for comparison: http://www.costaricaturtles.com/images/hawksbill.jpg

Is this same turtle...? http://www.virginiaherpetologicalsociety.com/reptiles/turtles/green-sea-turtle/Atlantic%20Green%20Sea%20Turtle%20(Chelonia%20mydas)00002.JPG
Actually Ashish, take a look at the scutes on the shell. On a Hawksbill, they are more ornate and overlap each other. On a Green, they do not overlap. Also, Green sea turtles have a "bullet-shaped" head and the Hawksbills will have a very prominent pointed beak.
No doubt... as its Hawksbill... http://wildlife-eg.yolasite.com/sea-turtle-hawksbil.php
Nice creature... Look lovely one..!!
THIS IS A GREAT PHOTO OF A GREEN TURTLE !!! ( NOT HAWKSBILL TURTLE )
This is actually a Green Sea Turtle. Not a Hawksbill. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_sea_turtle

Thanks a lot, SeanWeekly! This keeps me going :)
Beautiful Tom, trully amazing photo, and what a fantastic abum you have!
I envy you too...:))) thanks for the sharing...great photos..
Breathtaking! Great series! I envy you right now ... :)
Thanks! It was an amazing experience as well. The turtle let me come very close, I could kiss her if I wanted. Freediving lets you come closer to aquatic life. They're curious as well..."who's this new fish in my habitat?"
Stunning series of shots, a great spotting!
