Habitat:

This spider landed on my hand in the backyard. I suspect it came from the Bougainvillea nearby.

I'll keep my distance while taking pics of spiders!! I've had three charge at me and I was unable to take a good shot!! Better pics when they don't run away from or towards you! :P
I thought so too Susan :) I don't know how anyone can be afraid of this guy landing on them.
I'm going to guess that it is a Cat Faced Spider (aka, Monkey Faced Spider), a young female, maybe. Common orb weaver. If it isn't gemmoides, then look at some of the other Araneus species.
