Field Notes

Description:

Dark segmented insect that can roll into a ball as a defense

Habitat:

Most areas in the yard but prefers moist areas of the garden. This one was buried in the dirt and was discovered when my dog started digging.

Notes:

I picked it up and placed it on my arm under various lighting to take pictures then placed it where I found it.

AKA pill woodlice, pill bugs or roly-poly

Species ID Suggestions

I removed the ID after researching Isopods. I originally had this as Armadillidium vulgare but I don't believe it is. Any help to ID is appreciated.
