Description:

female black swallowtail butterfly. This photo was taken as the buttefly was emerging from its chrysalis. My daughter and I captured the caterpillar in our garden and kept it fed until it went into the chrysalis. We were lucky enough to be able to watch it emerge. Beautiful!!

Habitat:

caterpillar was found on parsley in our garden
