Field Notes

Description:

Insect with bluish-gray wings, orange shoulders, black head and antennae.

Habitat:

I spotted it on the Joe Pye Weed in my garden.

Notes:

Thanks for identifying this for me. I've never seen it before, but we just this season planted some grapevines, and we've been trying to figure out why the leaves of one of them were looking so chewed up. Thought maybe it was grasshoppers, which have been thick this year. Maybe the Grapeleaf Skeletonizer rode in on that plant.
