Field Notes

Description:

Very similar to a Monarch butterfly with the noticeable difference being the line across the hind wing.
Spotted resting on the sidewalk by house in the evening.

Notes:

The definition of a viceroy according to Wikipedia is a royal official that runs a country as the representative of the monarch. Thought that was an interesting tidbit about the name of the butterfly! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viceroy
