There were hundreds of these guys on this poor tree. Unfortunately I'm not sure what kind of tree it was.

They look as though they are related to the Box Elder Bug of the U.S.
Thanks tmvdh, I read that they like to aggregate on lime trees. I did take some photos of the leaves, I'll upload them as well.
Hi Stacey, most probably the tree is a Lime Tree (Tilia sp.).
