@ Christiane .. Sikkim is a beautifull place under the shadow of Lower Himalayan region. You will get desert like area where the Himalayan Thar roams between Snow peacks and you will get dense green forest also with some buddhist monastry near by. Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh have an unique kind of biodiversity, even some of the places are still remote. Whenever I found some holiday I go to Himalaya and maximum time in Sikkim. If you like mountaineering ( I've seen most of the mountaineering teams are from Australia), you can plan for Uttarakhand also. Though the bio diversity is little bit different as it's the part of upper-himalayan area. Mountains are heaven :)
