Field Notes

Description:

The flower spike is about 10m in height. Later I saw very thin yellow "flowers"on top of the "banana hands". This type of plant just gets flowers once in their entire lifetime and this only after decades of life.

Habitat:

Most of the time I saw them standing alone. They could be found in private gardens or just in the "wild"

Yes, hence the common name. You could add the Agave photo to this spotting, to show the plant as well.

I got a picture of an agave but not with its "flower". I just read on a webpage, that most of these plants have flowers just once in their entire livetime and this only after decades.

Yeah, I know it is surprising. Can you get a photo of the plant itself?

Now I'm extremely surprised. I never had estimated that this "plant" is the "flower"of an other one. Maybe I estimated the hight a bit wrong.

Not 100% sure on the species since I can't see the plant, but an Agave for sure. Their flower spikes can reach 10m!
