Description:
Large white bird with white plumage. Great Egret can reach up to one meter in height and weigh up to almost a kilo (2.1 lb). It has a wing span of 165 to 215 cm (65 to 85 in). It has a yellow bill, and black legs and feet.
During flight (which is slow) it retracts its head. It's diet consists of fish, frogs, small mammals, and occasionally small reptiles and insects.
Habitat:
Ardea alba egretta is a sub species of the Great Egret in the Americas. There are more sub species that have their habitat in Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Notes:
Also known as the 'Great White Egret', 'Common Egret',' White Heron', or 'Great White Heron'.
They are close relatives of pelicans and belong in the Pelecaniformes.
