Field Notes
Description:
Perennial up to 2' tall with milky sap and smooth, erect stems. Flowers are small, bell-shaped, in small clusters. Leaves are opposite, oval, to 3" long.
Habitat:
Common along roads and trails, on rocky slopes and hillsides, and in open conifer woods. Foothills to Subalpine.
Notes:
Note in the close up that it is covered in ants! This specimen was photographed in the Hayman burn in Colorado. next year (2012) will mark the 10 year anniversary of the fire.
