Wonderful Meadow Katydid! This one is a female, you can tell because she has an ovipositor (the sword-like appendage at the end of her abdomen). Grasshoppers do not have these. Another way you can distinguish her from a grasshopper is by looking at her antennae. Katydids (and Crickets) have long, thread-like antennae, while grasshoppers have shorter, wider antennae.
