Field Notes

Notes:

Some years I find huge fruitings of this fungus, and last year I came across a really enormous bunch of honey mushroom. The photos only show a few picturesque clusters, there was probably 10 pounds of large fungus growing from the remnants of a storm downed oak. The taxonomical classification of Armillaria has undergone a lot of revision, so the name "Armillaria mellea" is used somewhat informally.

For those of you who have a pair of red/blue 3D glasses lying around (and, honestly, who doesn't) I've included a 3D photo as well. Red goes over your left eye...

I've never tried them since I have had mild, but unpleasant reactions to other edible mushrooms, but I know that some people really like them.
I read about the taste in the link but are these edible?
