Field Notes

Description:

Gray to brown body color with light gray to white breast with a pinkish tint on the underparts. Black markings on both sides of the neck. Smaller than a pigeon.

Habitat:

Abundant and widespread found from remote areas to most cities and towns in approximately 2/3 of the lower 48 states.

Notes:

This bird is very speedy in all flight.

I enjoy seeing them in the early morning eating from the ground and waddling around making mating calls....the ones here are a bit smaller and are bluish grey with a black patch. nice picture
