Field Notes

Description:

Iridescent emerald shell.

Habitat:

Found cohabitating with a honeybee in the semi-open blossom of a magnolia tree in the Rose Garden at Balboa Park.

Notes:

These guys are just beautiful. Huge and loud, too! In the garden where I'm working this summer, I often mistake them for hummingbirds!
