Field Notes

Description:

ID is tentative at the moment, but it certainly looks more like it. Possibly a female.

Notes:

Adjusted photos uploaded - hopefully they're not as bright. Best I can do without ruining the pictures.

It's great when everyone agrees, and that website is good for exactly that, Daniele. I use a wildlife book for Mediterranean, which is good as a basic guide, but by no means complete. I think I'll be checking the rest of my butterfly IDs with that website later. :)
Great that everyone now agrees! I quite like the website I referred to, as the author shows many regional variants for each species. You need to know what you're looking for though as you can't search by pics...
Daniele, that's what made me take a photo. I've seen wall browns (lasiommata megera) and photographed them, but this fellar's eyespots were all wrong for that. Thanks for your suggestions and help everyone, and thanks to Daniele for that website! :)
Daniele you are perfect... http://www.eurobutterflies.com/species_pages/jurtina.htm
I would agree with meadow brown. Eye spots are wrong for the two Pyronia suggestions. You can see a very similar looking one here, and also use the site to try and disambiguate it from similar species: http://www.eurobutterflies.com/species_pages/jurtina.htm
I'm not sure about the colours. Did you try your Luck here in finding it: http://www.leps.it/ ?
Similar but not quite right. I'll reduce brightness later - I just wanted to post to see if I could get an ID.
Please reduce brightness of pictures..!!
